The Quickie: Lube

May 7th, 2010

Do you remember when lubricants were taboo to talk about? When you had to ask for lubricants from the pharmacist at your drug store? When there weren’t many options? When other intimate and feminine hygiene products weren’t talked about? Boy have things changed. I was recently out to lunch with a close friend, in her 30’s, who owns her own business and is highly successful. She asked what I was up to and I mentioned Aloe Cadabra.

Without blinking an eye she said, “do you know what a big deal that is? Sometimes, my husband and I (also a business owner) don’t have time for all the warm ups. This stuff would be awesome. We can get right down to things with a “quickie lube,” enjoy a great experience with each other and then move on to our hectic schedules, physically, mentally and emotionally fulfilled. We wouldn’t want to do that every time, but boy would it be great for those high stress times.”

We say bravo! Enjoy a quickie lube with yourself or someone you care about. Enhance it with a great all natural lube you can feel good about, like Aloe Cadabra. And enjoy all life has to offer. Even when there isn’t a lot of time to enjoy it!

Personal Lubricant Ingredients – Part 1

April 28th, 2010

You’re likely here because you care what you put on your body. So, the question of just what the best lubricant ingredients are has probably crossed your mind. We know it’s crossed ours! We’ve recently discovered a great website from the non-profit Environmental Working Group: www.cosmeticsdatabase.org.

The website ranks the toxicity of products and ingredients and tells you what the potential dangers are of the ingredients in any formula. We encourage you to check it out and see just how “clean,” your lubricant is. Better yet, take a look at the toxicity of all of your cosmetics and skin care products. It’s a great independent source of information that can help you make great decisions and ensure the things you put on your body are As Natural As Nature, just like Aloe Cadabra (When we ran Aloe Cadabra through, we got the lowest toxicity rating of any lubricant we know of!). And, you might just be surprised to find that something you thought was all natural may not be so as much as you’d hoped!

Here’s to your health and knowing just what you’re putting in your body.

Can I Make My Own Lubricant At Home?

April 26th, 2010

jarWe recently were asked if you can make your own lubricants at home. The answer is a resounding YES! And, we’d start with some of the ideas we’ve written about before that help reactivate your own natural juices. If you’re looking for a little extra juice, you definitely can make your own lubricants at home. But be careful and put safety first. If you’re using oils, they can cause condom damage. Be even more careful about allergies (just imagine the reaction when things you’re allergic to go into or on sensitive areas). Watch out for nasty bacteria that can get on and into your ingredients while you make it or bottle it, they can cause some serious unintended consequences. And, be sure you store your lubricant properly; depending upon what you use, your lubricant may have a short shelf life.

There are several things which are great lubricants that don’t require any “home brewing,” at all, like raw aloe (see our previous post on backyard aloe as a personal lubricant). Other popular ingredients for a “home brew” include coconut oil and flaxseed oil (these are both oils, so aren’t compatible with condoms). As with anything you are going to put on or in your body, no matter what you try, make sure it’s compatible with your body and you aren’t allergic. And, for those of you looking to ensure safety, keep the spontaneity (who wants to brew on demand during that magic moment) and avoid frigid moments (imagine a lube you’ve had refrigerated, yikes!), remember that are great alternatives that are already “As Natural As Nature”, such as Aloe Cadabra!

Personal Lubricant with NO Petroleum

April 21st, 2010

oil-droplets EnvironmentalBooty.com treasures “self, people, and planet”, and Aloe Cadabra is definitely a product that does all three! Shop owner Shane Shirley Smith writes:

Ladies we know that sometimes a personal lubricant is a must and why use petroleum or synthetic based products which contain parabens, alcohol and even Polyquaternium 15? Greening your sex life and personal needs, as giggly as it makes us, is just one more way to protect ourselves and our environment.

Intimate Lubricant with Organic Ingredients

April 7th, 2010

Go Green Street’s “Green Tara” knows that her body is no place for antifreeze and other harsh chemicals!:

A part of the “green” movement is eliminating harmful chemicals from our life and working to get them removed from person care items. Propylparaben Propylene Glycol if often used as a chemical in many personal lubricants that is also used as an antifreeze. Sorry but, anything that is uses as an antifreeze, is not going to be used on me!

We all look for “green” products, and Aloe Cadabra is a product that can be used to “GREEN YOUR BEDROOM ROUTINE“. This silky lubricant is free from Glycerine, Parabens, Alcohol, Hormones and other harsh chemical substances. It truly is an eco-friendly “between the sheets” product!

Aloe Personal Lubricant: Highly Recommended

March 31st, 2010

wet-blueJulie’s Journal was skeptical…now they’re just slippery!

Quite honestly, when I received the Aloe Cadabra samples I didn’t have much faith in them. They had the same nice scent, and the smooth feeling we were use to, but I just knew in the back of my mind, they would break down and become sticky. WOW! Were we ever proven wrong! Not only did it last, but it never, ever became sticky and gross. We’re sold!

We also like the fact that the ingredients in Aloe Cadabra are all natural. Have you read the ingredients labels of some personal lubricants on the market? Chlorhexidine? Methylparaben? I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not put that stuff on my body, thankyouverymuch. So make sure to try out the all natural Aloe Cadabra lubricant. I highly recommend it!

Safer Lubricant Alternatives

March 29th, 2010

Safemama.com bills itself as a “one-stop safe beauty, health, and eco-gorgeous resource”, and according to author Statia, Aloe Cadabra definitely fits that bill!:

What a cute name.  Like magic lube!  Aloe Cadabra is a little different from the few others that I’ve found.  The ingredients are food grade, so if you would happen to ingest it (and I won’t ask how you would, because what you do behind closed doors is your business), it’s perfectly safe.

I have to admit, that when I saw that it was mainly aloe vera gel, I was concerned that it might dry out or get sticky during use, unlike oil based lubricants, but it held up pretty well.  On top of that, aloe, as most people know, has magical healing properties.   And as a girl, you know that your girly parts can get aggravated easily.  So this is a nice change.  Maybe this is where the magic comes in.

Fun, Safe Organic Lubricant Review

March 26th, 2010

dry-groundShannon at The Mommy Files has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, so she knows the importance of a good lube to the health of a body and a relationship!

In a marriage, intimacy is important…vital even to its survival and happiness.  However, it’s hard to be intimate if you feel uncomfortable.  Medicines (or birth controls) can cause dryness, which lessen the enjoyment for women in intimate situations.  Many women (and men) try to relieve the dryness with over-the-counter products, but some result in uncomfortable reactions to the products.  In steps Aloe Cadabra!
