Everybody’s Doing It!

January 18th, 2011

purple-graph“In 2009, first quarter sales of personal lubricants soared 32% to 41.2 million.” No longer strange or unusual, lubricant usage is up! And, since Time Magazine reported there are chemicals found in industrial anti-freeze and oven cleaner, if you’re one of those users, be sure to read the label and look for something that’s as natural as nature.

Two Thumbs Up from BarelyInnocent.net!

December 11th, 2010

We got quite the comprehensive “road test” and review from BarelyInnocent.net recently, and knew we needed to share it with you! She covers it all: packaging, ingredients, skin test, toy test, partner test….all resulting in an enthusiastic, slippery two-thumbs-up!

Hocus Pocus…..ABRA~CADABRA…Kazam!
Actually it’s ALOE Cadabra and it came in the mail to me the other day. I get so giddy with excitement when new things come to me in the mail. When the package arrived I was shocked, I wasn’t expecting anything to begin with, but I love seeing when someone sends you enough of the product to share with your friends.

The packaging was nice. Clean white box with just the right amount of information on the front and sides, INCLUDING a very SHORT list of ingredients. The image on the front was minimal, professional and very tasteful. I honestly felt like I was holding a high end boutique product in my hand. After reading the information on the box, I opened it to find a 2.5oz bottle, completely white except for the product sticker of the same image, the name of product and the only other wording says, NATURAL ALOE. So even if my friends or my child came in my room and it was out they would think it was lotion or Aloe Vera. NICE.

I love that the label has the product ingredients of Vitamin E., Organic Aloe Vera Gel, and 5 other ingredients that are all natural and makes this product, Paraben, Glycerin, and Petroleum FREE!! It is Condom Safe, Toy Friendly and you don’t have to worry if you get any in your mouth as it is made with food grade ingredients as well.

Since I have such sensitive skin I opted to use the original variety. Squeezing a small amount in my hand, I did the time test…Basically rub my fingers together until it starts getting tacky. I was surprised at how smooth and silky it was, that is had no odor and that it was not beading up after even 10 minutes. It looked like the product was going to last longer than my fingers could.

Once I noticed it starting to get less silky, I added a touch of saliva to see if it would recharge itself. I did not find it did much, so I would recommend keeping this bottle nearby for reapplication if you are into faster harder sex, as I had been doing different speeds of movement with my fingers, but I am sitting at about 15 minutes before I even noticed. I think a small squeeze on the shaft of the toy or person would do the trick (No need to stop).

The toy test was more successful when it came to longevity. I used the Pure Bendi for this experiment, a wonderful tool I must say. Between the super soft plush of the material of the Bendi and the silkiness of the Aloe Cadabra it was a very nice compliment. Sometimes material can be too porous and absorb the lubrications as well, but I did not find that to be the case with these partners. Several trips around Venus later, mission successful!

Now onto the unsuspecting partner, and like the use of the Bendi it was a fantastic feel. No hot spots, long lasting, and I found that reapplication was minimally needed even when we went for round two. Even after clean up I could notice a difference in the skin locations that the Aloe Cadabra touched, it was soft and smooth.

The only area I have to really give this product a negative word and it’s not really anyone’s fault here, like pure Aloe Vera Products it can tend to get a bit beady. It was a huge issue for me personally, and was quickly dismissed when you think about the healthy benefits of products like these compared to many other brands out there. But for those that really have an issue with beading, perhaps not an intercourse play lubrication for you.

I am going to give these two thumbs up for this all natural alternative to lubrication.

How Green Is Your Sex Life?

October 19th, 2010

Our friends over at Environmental Booty are constantly searching for the choices that make our bodies and planet as healthy as they can be, and we’re thrilled that they think Aloe Cadabra fits that bill for greening up your sex life!

Do you know what is in that personal lubricant you buy at the drugstore? You might be surprised to know that, unless you are using a non-toxic product like Aloe Cadabra, you are putting a petroleum based synthetic full of harmful parabens and chemicals onto and into your bodies. Think about that for a minute and you will come to the same conclusion I did, “YUCK! There has to be something better.”

How Do I STOP Menopause?

September 16th, 2010

“What is menopause?? and what can u do to stop it?”, asks a seemingly frantic Amie on Yahoo! Answers. As usual, the simplest answer turns out to be best, in the words of user Which Witch Is Which: “It’s when you stop your periods, it tends to happen from ages 45-55, and you can’t stop it.”

Well that certainly answers the question, but since Amie seems anxious about it, we’d love to offer some thoughts and suggestions on the matter:

Menopause is indeed an inevitable change in a woman’s body, most popularly marked by the cessation of menstruation (as another contributor said, “…who would want to stop menopause? I mean your periods will become a thing of the past”). “The Great Change” typically comes in two stages, and characteristics of menopause can include irregular periods (before they stop completely), hot flashes, and sleep disturbances. Because your body will have stopped releasing eggs, production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone decreases, and one of the effects of that is vaginal dryness.

Like any other time in your life, keeping your body healthy will be so important! A healthy diet, exercise, and drinking plenty of water will help, as will being mindful of what’s in the other products you’re using. Keeping the vagina moist can be simply a comfort issue if you’re not sexually active at that time, but especially if you are, having a lubricant that actually heals and nourishes your most delicate skin and doesn’t add harmful chemicals to your body is a MUST.

Of course, we recommend something organic…perhaps with a light lavender scent? ;)

Lubrication to Relieve Vulvar Pain

September 14th, 2010

cracked-groundFeeling chapped, pinched, or itchy is no way to feel ready for any sexual activity, much less be comfortable in general, so for women experiencing vulvar pain, lubrication and healthy skin are critical concerns.

Alex at VulvarVestibulitisRelief.com has put together a list of her “rock stars” of moisturization and lubrication, with attention to ingredients, cost, and pain relief or skin nourishing benefits. Aloe Cadabra is on the list, as is Vitamin E oil! We know the healing and soothing powers of aloe and the anti-aging properties of Vitamin E, so it sounds like Aloe Cadabra enriched with Vitamin E must be a winner!

Wanton Lotus Reviews Aloe Cadabra – Tahitian Vanilla

September 3rd, 2010

We’re excited about this “five-lotus” review from Wanton Lotus, for exceptional smell, taste, feel, and body-friendliness!

Aloe Cadabra is mostly made up of the obvious: aloe. It’s basically organic aloe vera gel with a little bit of organic vanilla essential oil and some preservatives. Does this mean you could go out and buy aloe vera gel to the same result? Maybe. If you could find one without added nasty ingredients, which is part of the whole purpose of Aloe Cadabra and why it was created. A lot of aloe vera gels out there include things like alcohol, coloring, parabens, and probably more.

Lubricant is Supposed to Feel Good, Not Irritate!

August 31st, 2010

lesrolo asks “What is the best personal lubricant. Tried K-Y but ended up with a severe irritation around the vaginal openin [sic]” on Yahoo! Answers. We’re biased about the first part, and definitely have some thoughts about the second!

When talking about something you’re going to put on or into your body, we think the term “best” needs to include being beneficial to your health and free from harmful chemicals. This seems to be especially important for those delicate and personal areas where natural, organic Aloe Cadabra is meant to go!

Paraben-Free Aloe Vera Gel?

August 19th, 2010

From Yahoo! Answers, Acrabatic-Alien asks:
Is there a paraben-free aloe vera gel? I’m trying to find some aloe vera gel that is paraben-free, but I can’t find any anywhere.

First of all, we love that you’re conscious enough about what’s going on your body to even ask the question! Aloe vera is amazing stuff with all sorts of healthy applications, and when it comes to the delicate tissues in intimate areas, we humbly recommend Aloe Cadabra, which is 95% organic aloe vera, and is paraben- and lots-of-other-stuff-free too!

Is Lubricant Safe Enough To Eat?

August 17th, 2010

fcrabezvaqex asked the following on Yahoo! Answers:
“Is K-Y Lubricant (or other store brand personal lubricant) safe if swallowed?”

terrydbouvier answered “KY is just water and cellulose. Although it’s not intended to be eaten, it’s harmless if ingested”, but we think it’s wise to be more clear and cautious than that. Most personal lubricant brands have more than one formula, with a variety of features and ingredients. Some formulas of KY, for example, contain chemicals used primarily as food preservatives and in cleaning solutions and automotive antifreeze.

By contrast, not only is it all right to ingest Aloe Cadabra®, many people find that aloe is a great way to aid with digestion. In fact, there are numerous health drinks made with raw aloe. We’re not recommending that you make a beverage from Aloe Cadabra®, but everything in it is “food grade” and certified organic for your health and safety. Good to know, huh?

To check in on the chemical and toxic contents of a wide variety of personal products, we like to recommend the Environmental Working Group’s Cosmetics Database, so you can inform yourself about what’s in the products you’re putting on – and into – your body! We’ve written before about the importance of choosing healthful products for your body, here and here.

Natural Lubricant Treats Burns and Wounds

July 27th, 2010

Reviewer Onyx Sakura at Erotic Consumer gives Aloe Cadabra 9/10 stars for being not only a slick and soothing sexual lubricant, but for treating a burn wound with the magic of aloe vera!

This very soft and gentle lubricant provides a very sensual and enjoyable experience. I used it with an adult sex toy on a not-too-excited moment and had no issues. The lavender scent definitely assisted with a more calming sense. It is translucent in color, so no worries in regards to staining… A definite plus! As it is Aloe based, I used it on my daughter when she received a burn on her arm. She LOVED it and especially the scent! It glided on so softly that it was easier to help her treat the wound, and not as potentially painful. Though it did take a bit longer to dry than the traditional treatment aloes. The bottle was easy to get into with just a flip top lid. Pressure on the container provided as much or as little as needed. It doesn’t just run out of the bottle or leak!
