Did you know that many lubricants contain chemicals that can make those with allergies or chemical sensitivities experience burning or irritation when they use them? Did you know that menopause increases the percentage of people with adult onset allergies, which can increase chemical sensitivities? If you’re experiencing any of those things or better yet, just because you care about you, look for lubricants without potentially harmful chemicals like Glycerine and Parabens (they can make sensitivities even more acute). Find a lubricant without them, like Aloe Cadabra, and enjoy knowing you’re using a product that’s As Natural As Nature. Not only will it help lubricate, but it will also help moisturize, and enhance your pleasure!

Personal Lubricant Ingredients – Part 1
April 28th, 2010You’re likely here because you care what you put on your body. So, the question of just what the best lubricant ingredients are has probably crossed your mind. We know it’s crossed ours! We’ve recently discovered a great website from the non-profit Environmental Working Group: www.cosmeticsdatabase.org.
The website ranks the toxicity of products and ingredients and tells you what the potential dangers are of the ingredients in any formula. We encourage you to check it out and see just how “clean,” your lubricant is. Better yet, take a look at the toxicity of all of your cosmetics and skin care products. It’s a great independent source of information that can help you make great decisions and ensure the things you put on your body are As Natural As Nature, just like Aloe Cadabra (When we ran Aloe Cadabra through, we got the lowest toxicity rating of any lubricant we know of!). And, you might just be surprised to find that something you thought was all natural may not be so as much as you’d hoped!
Here’s to your health and knowing just what you’re putting in your body.

Can I Make My Own Lubricant At Home?
April 26th, 2010
We recently were asked if you can make your own lubricants at home. The answer is a resounding YES! And, we’d start with some of the ideas we’ve written about before that help reactivate your own natural juices. If you’re looking for a little extra juice, you definitely can make your own lubricants at home. But be careful and put safety first. If you’re using oils, they can cause condom damage. Be even more careful about allergies (just imagine the reaction when things you’re allergic to go into or on sensitive areas). Watch out for nasty bacteria that can get on and into your ingredients while you make it or bottle it, they can cause some serious unintended consequences. And, be sure you store your lubricant properly; depending upon what you use, your lubricant may have a short shelf life.
There are several things which are great lubricants that don’t require any “home brewing,” at all, like raw aloe (see our previous post on backyard aloe as a personal lubricant). Other popular ingredients for a “home brew” include coconut oil and flaxseed oil (these are both oils, so aren’t compatible with condoms). As with anything you are going to put on or in your body, no matter what you try, make sure it’s compatible with your body and you aren’t allergic. And, for those of you looking to ensure safety, keep the spontaneity (who wants to brew on demand during that magic moment) and avoid frigid moments (imagine a lube you’ve had refrigerated, yikes!), remember that are great alternatives that are already “As Natural As Nature”, such as Aloe Cadabra!
Can I Use Backyard Aloe As a Personal Lubricant?
April 23rd, 2010Well, we believe the better question is how much fun would it be to have sex on your hammock in the backyard? Or on your swing set? Or under the stars with a warm blanket and some good wine? Those questions withstanding, many people have used raw aloe as a personal lubricant. In fact, that’s how we discovered the magic of aloe and experienced our first of many magic moments! We picked it right from our fields, filleted it and used it as not only a lubricant, but also a moisturizer. It worked unbelievably well. But, it was a bit runny, was difficult to work with and took away the spontaneity (who wants to fillet an aloe stalk when they’re ready for something more)? And, you of course need to be careful to make sure you get all the dirt off, don’t leave any of the prickly skin or have any bugs. As with anything you put on or in your body, you should make sure you aren’t allergic and if you feel any discomfort, immediately stop using it.
Raw aloe can be sensual, slippery fun and potentially healing (the healing properties of Aloe have been known for some time). But why go through the hassle of filleting the aloe, keeping it cool, delicately insuring it there’s no dirt or bugs in it, when you can get the same effect with out it, in a ready to use bottle that also includes incredible fragrances from organic essential oils? When trying to figure out which lubricant to choose, a lubricant with a lot of aloe is great for you, so more can be better! Be sure to read the label carefully; many tout having aloe vera or other great things like Vitamin E, but when you get down to it, there isn’t much of it in the bottle. So, read the label carefully and always look for a product like Aloe Cadabra, which has more than 95% organic aloe vera, along with some incredible other food grade ingredients that help provide thickness, lubricity, sensual aromas and other great qualities that make it fantastic for you and your partner or by yourself. So, use that aloe in your backyard. Better yet, use Aloe Cadabra while in your backyard…under the stars!
Personal Lubricant with NO Petroleum
April 21st, 2010
EnvironmentalBooty.com treasures “self, people, and planet”, and Aloe Cadabra is definitely a product that does all three! Shop owner Shane Shirley Smith writes:
Ladies we know that sometimes a personal lubricant is a must and why use petroleum or synthetic based products which contain parabens, alcohol and even Polyquaternium 15? Greening your sex life and personal needs, as giggly as it makes us, is just one more way to protect ourselves and our environment.

Yes! Help for Vaginal Dryness is Here
April 19th, 2010The topic of vaginal dryness is so common among women particularly between the ages of 40 and 60 that it is often a topic to be shared when the “girls” get together. Yes, it is a problem that forms a common bond, and has a definite effect on the sex life. Check out the facts below.
A healthy vagina, which is made up of many layers of cells, stays lubricated with clear fluid, which keeps the vagina healthy, elastic and noticeable when you are aroused. How much lubrication occurs is determined and affected by different factors such as: low estrogen, menopause, stress, fatigue, chemo therapy, medications, allergies, pregnancy, childbirth, drying and chemically based soaps, and of course emotional stress.
Dryness can cause irritation, itching and burning, avoidance of sexual intercourse, and lack of libido, thinning and drying of the vaginal wall. Emotional stress can be a huge factor in dryness. Many women believe and have heard that sexual drive/libido is supposed to go away during menopause. Literature and studies have shown, however, that sex drive is not automatically assumed to be a factor in menopause.
Some 80% of women report symptoms of vaginal dryness during perimenopause and menopause. Other studies indicate that 95% of women report some occasional vaginal dryness.
OK…those are some facts. Now let’s deal with some solutions and create healthy ways to have a relationship between the body, and sexual experiences. What can YOU do?
1. Drink plenty of water (not soda) to ensure that the body is well hydrated. Balance the diet. Add some nutritional supplements if needed.
2. Be careful about using harsh chemicals, soaps, douches and other products containing allergens, dyes and fragrances.
3. Exercise to increase the “chi” or chi energy and breath moving through the body.
4. Stimulate your sexual organs. Lubrication may take a bit longer, but it is still there. Spend time self pleasuring. With a partner, slow down, take your time.
5. Use some personal lubricant that is natural, and will help to restore your own vaginal moisture. Aloe Cadabra is a magical gel that is 95% organic aloe.
6. Affirm you! You may be getting older, but certainly sexual activity can be joyous and exciting. Keep the juices flowing.

Stressors and Natural Lubrication
April 15th, 2010Do we need to name the main stressors we face daily? We suggest a few: financial strain, job stress, health concerns, relationship difficulties, and of course the kids. These stressors stop our bodies from feeling fluid (and fluidity in the mind, body, and spirit creates fluidity in natural lubrication of the physical and sexual body). We may not realize how much these stressors affect us until we try to do too much, and adding the pressure of sexual expression to the list of “I must and I should and I have to.” STOP, in the Name of Love,(as sung by the Supremes.) Our Super woman or Superman uniform becomes our life as we run to try to catch up (and we never do). Vaginal dryness is a HUGE factor in how we respond to stress. Choose to change this pattern NOW.
Take three steps back as you identify stress that clearly affects you, and your ability to breathe and move through life with ease. Then breathe three deep breaths….SLOWLY….SLOWLY…….SLOWLY. Now take a look at what must be done, perhaps making a list of the top four things that you are stressed about, and balance those things with some ways to balance YOU. Take a walk, put on some favorite music and let your body move, sing, play the drums, and BREATHE some more. Now open the drawer and take out your Aloe Cadabra and enjoy the moment of release into deep relaxation, fluidity, and JOY! Choose a scent that fits that moment. DO NOT think about anything else other than breathing and enjoying. (The stressors will wait.) Add some favorite fruit to engage your senses. HAVE fun and practice this way to balance life stressors and YOU.

Vaginal Dryness: Mission Possible for Women!
April 13th, 2010
We need regular sexual activity to “keep the juices flowing.” Studies show that natural lubrication helps keep our organs in good working order.
But… what about our “emotional body?” We need that emotional connection, that exhilarating feeling of looking and really SEEING into our partner’s eyes, embracing the mind, body, spirit. We need to feel loved, wanted, and language that matches the loving heartfelt spirit. We need to have patience with allowing the natural lubrication to flow like a river of ecstasy. We need to create time, have space, and have an emotionally healthy connection….and then the magic happens. To have this connection means that we may also invite our natural juices to flow on their own. Often, we may add the gift of an all natural personal lubricant to join in this ecstatic journey. Aloe Cadabra with three scents of Natural Aloe, French Lavender, and Tahitian Vanilla, enhances the moment and deepens communication about what we like.
